Fifteen Central Park West is a 550ft tall condominium located in the southwest corner of Central Park near Columbus Circle. The trapezoidal property is bounded by 61st and 62st Streets to the south and north, Broadway to the west, and Central Park West to the east. Completed in 2008, it is one of the most successful real estate developments in history with the 202 units selling out for over $2 billion.
The building was developed for a total cost of $950 million (including $401 million just for the land)) by Arthur and William Lie Zeckendorf, grandsons of the legendary New York real estate developer William Zeckendorf Sr.
The New Classical architectural design is credited to Robert A. M. Stern Architects. The overall two-towered approach and general layout was established earlier by another firm, SLCE Architects as part of early feasibility and economic studies. (It pays to do your homework before committing $401 million to buy a parcel of land!)
In addition housing elite Wall Street bankers and hedge fund managers, celebrity residents have included Robert De Niro, Norman Lear, Sting, Denzel Washington, Alex Rodriguez.
